okay. i'm here. i sent graciela a whole list of youtube videos that show congolese women talking about their experiences. if anyone wants me to send them the same list, let me know. lorraine
For scholars day I would like my piece to focus on the emotions of the women who are broken down, advantage of, and raped not only literally but mentally. I was thinking of using different mediums to create a collage like piece. I am not sure if I want to portray the meaning of my piece literally or more abstractly.
If we are going to create different pieces for the show, i would like to either paint maybe a dual panel piece or a dual panel graphic work. If painted, it would require an extensive amount of time, time I may not already have.
Whether painted or created with graphics i would like my work to reflect uncomfortable, uneasy feelings. Jagged lines, shapes and shady imagery could be used to convey all of these things. A multitude of colors could be incorporated to convey the different events, feelings, and emotions that go along with life in the Congo.
